The Northern Indiana Conference consists of two long days of matches for 12 schools. These girls worked very hard and did a great job supporting each other. The Lady Falcons finished 9th with a total of 23 points overall for the tournament. Individual Statistics: #1- Kelsey Yelaska (11) Kelsey started the tournament by taking a BIG win over New Prairie 6-1, 6-3. This placed her into a tough bracket facing Marian in the morning. Kelsey played a grueling match but came up short 0-6, 0-6. Kelsey played her 3rd match against Riley in a 8 point super pro set and lost in a tie breaker 5-7. Kelsey finished they day on a positive playing some beautiful tennis and beating Washington 8-0 to sink her spot in the #7 position for the night. Great job Kelsey! Way to put in all that hard work!!!! #2 Vivian Stephens (10) Vivian started out the tournament on Wednesday with a fire win against Washington 6-1, 6-3. Vivian started out the morning against Penn and had some of the best serves she has ever had! She fell short to the veteran 0-6, 0-1 but that score DOES NOT reflect her strength as a tennis player. Vivian continued to fight and had some beautiful shots but lost to Jimtown. Vivian battled against Elkhart after a long day of tennis and finished in 8th place overall. Impressive work Vivian and we can't wait to see how you continue to grow! #3 Kailee Kulp (12): (Sub- Addison Reese- 11) Kailee Kulp stepped up the the courts on Wednesday battling her immune system. She lost a long, grueling match against Elkhart, 4-6, 0-6. Kailee came back the next day after a good nights rest but during her warm up had an injury. Stepping up, was Addison Reese who took on Washington and won 8-4. Addison had a tough last game of the day against Riley loosing 0-8. Addison did a tremendous job stepping up to the plate to help out Kailee who we hope has a fast recovery to finish out her Senior season! #1 Doubles: Maddy Whitmer (11) & Trinity Stackman (9) This lady duo started out the tournament on Wednesday against Clay and took home a 6-0, 6-0 victory. This put them into a difficult bracket, facing St. Joseph schools to start the morning. The ladies battled hard but came up short. The duo then faced a tough Adams team followed by another tough Elkhart team. These girls picked up rackets 6 weeks ago and are battling the best of the best in the NIC. We are very impressed how well they finished in 8th place for their first appearance! Keep up the hard work ladies! #2 Doubles- Morgan Gill (10) & Nora Guisella (10) This young duo started out the tournament on Wednesday and had some tough calls against them vs Marian. This put them into the morning tournament vs Washington and the girls came up with a win 8-0. Glenn then continued their magic with a close match against Jimtown but stuck together as a team and came out with a win vs Jimtown. The ladies finished 9th overall and on a positive note! Great job ladies! We had an additional two freshman subs; Haylee Isbell & Clare Schmalzried that love tennis so much they asked to play some JV matches on some empty courts during the tournament. They lost to New Prairie but came out with a win against Riley. Love your dedication and love for the sport ladies!
