The Falcons JV traveled to Bremen on Saturday for a showdown with the Lions.Both teams battled back and forth until after regulation it was a tie 20-20. The Falcons won the toss and elected to go on defense. On the second play of overtime Mike Lawler forced a fumble recovered by Aaron Sherman to end Bremen’s hopes of scoring. The offense took the field and only needed 1 play as Garret West scampered 10 yards around the end with great blocking on the edge by Weston Salyer, Gino Scott and Danny Taylor for the decisive TD and the win.
The Falcons were lead in rushing by Garrett West 9 carries, 121 yards and 2 TDs, followed by Gino Scott with 14 carries for 36 yards and a 2 point conversion. Nick Frankiewicz was 6/17 64 yards, 1 interception and 1 TD. Danny Taylor had 1 catch for 22 yards on an ESPN ESPY award catch. Khori Barker had 1 catch for 18 yards, Garret West had 2 catches for 17 yards and Weston Salyer had 2 catches for 7 yards and a TD.
The bend but don’t break defense forced 7 turnovers. Mike Lawler played out of his mind with 10 tackles and 3 forced fumbles. Brandon Becker had 9 tackles, 1 recovered fumble and a 70 yard interception return for a TD. Gino Scott caused a fumble and had 2 tackles. Aaron Sherman had 3 tackles and recovered a fumble. Zach Neiswender had 4 tackles and an interception along with 3 kick off returns for 62 yards. Aiden McMahan had 1 tackle and an interception. Khori Barker had 5 tackles, 4 knocked down pass attempts, 2 recovered fumbles (1 returned for 17 yards).
The Falcons move to 2-1 on the season and travel to Jimtown on Monday, 9/12 at 6:00 pm for a battle with the Jimmies.
