The Falcons sent 3 wrestlers to the always tough Crown Point Regional on Saturday. To advance to the Semi-state next week you have to win your opening round quarter-final bout. To start the day off for the Falcons was Freshman 106 lbs. Kyle Hudgen, losing to his opponent from Hanover Central 17-2. Kyle finishes his stellar freshman season with a record of 20-6. We look for big things from him as he continues to get better in our program. At 126 lbs. Senior Brody King picked up a big first round win over Hunter Mallory from Lowell High School with a Fall in 2:22. In the Semi-final round he was matched against the #1 ranked wrestler and IU commit Gavin Jendreas of Crown Point. Wrestling hard but losing by tech fall 16-1, putting him in the consolation bracket for 3rd place. In that match he faced Cryderman from Hanover Central, winning by Major Decision 10-2. Moving his record to 33-3 on the season. And Finally at 138lbs. Walter Drews was matched up with another tough Hanover Central wrestler, picking up the win by Major Decision 18-4. Punching his ticket to his 3rd semi-state. In his Semi-Final match he drew #1 ranked Evan Stanley from Lowell, who won by fall. In the Consolation match for 3rd place Walt wrestled Sonny Sessa from Crown Point, and lost that match by major decision 14-1, placing him 4th for the day with a season record of 34-8 on the season. Congratulations good luck to Brody and Walt next week at the East Chicago Semi-State!!!!
